How To Ask The Oracle

Watch this guide if you're unsure how to consult the I Ching, or read the complete guidelines here →

Prepare Your Mind & Heart

You should now be in a Quiet, Peaceful state, ready for divination.
The ACCURACY depends on your SINCERITY!

1. Focus Your Question:

Clearly formulate the question you wish to ask the Oracle. You may write it down to help maintain focus. (Need guidance on questions? Review our guidelines.)

2. Enter a Peaceful State & Offer Intent:

Close your eyes. Take a few deep breaths. With utmost sincerity, offer a small prayer & state your intent. You might say something like (JUST A ROUGH GUIDE, NO NEED WORD FOR WORD):

“假尔泰筮有常,某 (自己名字) 今以某事 (想要占问之事),未知可否。爰质所疑于神之灵,吉凶、得失、悔吝、忧虞,惟尔有神,尚明告知。”

(Translation: “If divination through the oracle holds truth, I, (Your Name), now seek guidance regarding (your question). The outcome remains uncertain, and I bring my doubts before the spirit. I ask for insight into what is favorable or unfavorable, whether there will be gain or loss, regret or blame, worry or trouble. You, who hold divine wisdom, I humbly ask—please reveal the answer with clarity.”)

Alternatively, a simple prayer like: "Dear I Ching, dear Gods [name of your God], I have a huge dilemma regarding [question] and I sincerely seek your wisdom and guidance."

3. Receive Three Numbers:

Keeping your question in mind, allow three numbers to come to you. They can be of any length. Alternatively, you can randomly flip open a book three times and note the page numbers. Once you have your three numbers, enter them above.
